The combination of L-Theanine and ashwagandha creates a potent formulation for stress and anxiety relief. On a mechanistic level, the GABA activators of both ingredients work in synergy. L-Theanine increases GABA levels, while ashwagandha mimics its action, creating a multiplier effect. Both also have hormonal-type effects, creating endocrine system synergism, which are crucial for cortisol control.

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands that affects almost every organ system in the body. It has many important functions, including:
  • Stress response: Helps the body respond to danger or stress
  • Metabolism: Increases the body's metabolism of glucose
  • Blood pressure: Controls blood pressure
  • Inflammation: Reduces inflammation

  • Nausea, diarrhea or vomiting

L-Theanine works quickly, usually within 30-60 minutes whereas ashwagandha, an adaptogen, takes a bit longer to kick in, but its effects are long-lasting. The beauty of this combination lies in the fact that while l-theanine provides more immediate relief, ashwagandha continues to work in the background, providing sustained benefits.

To enjoy this mixture you simply take a teaspoon of the powder, place it into a tea bag, steep it in hot (not boiling) water for a few minutes and add honey and/or lemon to taste. There are many ways to use this teaspoon of powder and you will find what works best for you, this is just how I enjoy it! I either mix it in with my nightly cup of tea, or enjoy it by itself!
